Received some tragic news and asking for a A heartfelt request for a family of 6 to help pay for their mums funeral.
Have you ever had the pleasure of working with a family of 6 who choose to experience lives of autism, long term health conditions, poverty and a huge amount of love, compassion and kindness towards others? Maybe you have, maybe you have not.
I dearest friend, have been honoured to work with such a family, chosen by the local authority to work with a mum and dad and four young adults requiring help and support in all areas of their lives.
Over the past three very turbulent years, my focus has been not only to work with the entire family but especially Mum and the young men in the family.
Mum was the lynchpin; the glue; the centrepiece that suddenly and unexpectedly passed away the evening of Thursday 2nd June 2022.
The family contacted me immediately to ask for help and now I am also asking you for your help.
There needs to be a funeral, it needs paying for and there is not a penny available to do so. This, on top of their immense loss and grief is one of the most tragic situations I have witnessed in my 35 of working with families such as this one. A family that I love and care for greatly.
The Dad didn’t realise that the family were in debt, he left the running of the finances to Mum whilst he does a job that pays little. Mum would not accept benefits which they are entitled too in case they were taking from others that needed it more. No one knew the extent of the financial situation until this week.
Whilst we work together to try and get benefits; food and clothing for the family, there is a matter of paying for a funeral; for a small posy of roses to sit on the casket and for the family to have a small gathering of extended family and friends to be with them to say goodbye to the mother and wife they loved with all their hearts.
Mum was a feisty lady who had lots of her own issues to resolve. Her whole life was dedicated to her children, and to her husband. Her family meant everything to her.
I admired her tenacity; her ability to be able to sniff out if the authorities and education system were not being truthful about her children’s needs and her drive to fight for her children not to be labelled as Autistic and with Learning difficulties. She had never had a diagnosis of Autism herself however she would tell me she fought for them because she knew she was also autistic and she didn’t want her children being treated as she had been.
The family are currently experiencing every emotion that grief brings, they are having to learn new skills, are dealing with things they never knew existed and as you can probably imagine, it’s a tough time for them all. Dad is now playing the role of Dad and Mum and trying to be strong when he is feeling broken and scared of the future. Your help will help ease their pain and fears.
I ask with a heavy heart for your love and compassion and if you would be kind enough to put a few pennies in the Go Fund Me pot for this family whilst I get to work supporting them with their emotional traumas and teaching them practical solutions through the most unexpected and difficult period of their lives.
I thank you with all my heart, love and appreciation for your support.
Much love to you and your family.
Have a beautiful day dear friend.
Thank you for your kindness and love.
